You can follow the My Diabetes diet if you have already gone through all the stages of recovery. Your doctor should provide dietary advice and a diet plan, and you should keep in touch with them if you have any questions regarding the recovery period.
After the first 8 weeks of surgery, you should start having more casual meals of a thicker consistency 3 times a day. However, the portion sizes have to be smaller. Step by step, you can include bread and some roasted meals. We recommend following the My Diabetes diet only when you are 12-16 weeks after your surgery and have undergone all recovery stages. Only then can you consume a variety of meals consisting of all the necessary macronutrients.
